Welcome Jenny
A Bold New Leader for a Critical Moment
This spring, Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest welcomed Jenny Black as its new President and CEO. With more than 25 years of service to the Planned Parenthood mission, Jenny brings a wealth of experience from affiliates across the country—including New Mexico, Maryland, and most recently, Planned Parenthood South Atlantic. There, she oversaw the expansion of access to record numbers of patients seeking abortion and gender-affirming care, led record-breaking fundraising, strengthened staff culture, and achieved historic legislative and political wins.
Jenny is a bold, strategic leader with a deep understanding of what it takes to lead in a crisis, fight back against attacks on reproductive rights, and invest in a stronger, more equitable future. Her passion for this mission and vision for what’s possible already feel right at home. Under her leadership, Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest is poised to thrive in the years ahead.
Dear Freinds,
This year was a testament to both the urgency of Planned Parenthood’s mission and the strength of our community. As attacks on reproductive freedom intensify across the country and threaten our patients and providers in California, we remain more committed than ever—because of you. Your commitment allows us to be resilient in the face of constant challenges and to ensure that every person can access the care and education they deserve. Thank you for making this possible.
Last year, patients relied on Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest for high-quality care at nearly 240,000 visits to our 19 health centers.
Our expert providers continued to be a beacon of hope for patients in need of essential, safe, accessible health care: life-saving cancer screening, birth control, compassionate abortion care, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections, gender-affirming care, and so much more.
Every expansion of services—more resources for patients newly diagnosed with HIV, access to medication abortion through telehealth, menopause management, a region-wide emphasis on the need for unbiased and accurate sexual health education—means more people can get the care and support they need, when they need it. As our medical providers help patients from near and far overcome ever more barriers to accessible health care, our educators are reaching young people, caregivers, and teachers with the tools to create safe, healthy futures, and our tireless advocacy efforts keep patients’ voices front and center in the fight against harmful policies.
Through every threat and setback, we have been deeply inspired by the big hearts and spirits of our staff, who meet every patient, student, and community member with dignity and compassion. We are heartened by our volunteers, whose time and commitment are invaluable to our success. And we are grateful beyond measure for the generosity and courage of supporters like you.
We are so proud of what we accomplished together this year, and we know the work ahead requires all of us. We thank you for standing with us, today and always.
In solidarity,
Jenny Black President & CEO

When I was 18, I was living at home. I’m Filipino and that meant we did not talk about reproductive health, birth control, safe sex, things like that. When I was ready for birth control the staff at Planned Parenthood were super nice; they walked me through all the options I had. No pressure to choose any one. I chose the pill.

Health Center Services
Some services provided during those visits include:
I had been struggling with irregular periods and what I thought were pre-menopausal symptoms. I have Medi-Cal and I tried to get an appointment with my doctor and they didn’t have an appointment for six months. I was able to get an appointment at Planned Parenthood the next day. Their patient care was exemplary and the facility was state-of-the-art.

Expanding Care For Those Who Need It Most
When Rosa came to the Riverside Flaster Family Center for what she thought was a routine exam, her provider found early signs of cervical cancer. Thanks to timely, preventive care covered by Medi-Cal, Rosa got treatment, answers, and a second chance. But today, that same care is under threat as political attacks jeopardize Medi-Cal funding—the very lifeline patients like Rosa count on.
Even in the face of such unprecedented challenges, Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest is meeting patients where they are, with what they need. This year, we launched new treatments to diagnose and prevent HIV, began offering telehealth medication abortion, introduced menopause and perimenopause care, and broke ground on a new Moreno Valley Health Center.
Health care isn’t partisan; it’s personal. No matter the political climate, we’ll keep growing, innovating, and fighting for our patients, because every person deserves compassionate, high-quality care, regardless of who they are or how much they earn.

Education
Sex Ed Made Easy For Teachers, Students, and Parents
From classrooms to community centers and digital spaces, Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest’s Education Department equips young people, parents, and professionals with the tools to make informed decisions about their health and relationships. Online, Sex Ed To-Go extends that impact far beyond our region, offering free, engaging lessons for students, curriculum support for teachers, and expert guidance for parents looking to start honest conversations at home. Just this year, more than 5,500 new student users turned to Sex Ed To-Go for trusted information, support, and answers to the questions that matter most. Together, our in-person and virtual education programs ensure that learners of all ages—now based in every state and around the world—can access accurate, shame-free information.

I go to UC Riverside and I am a peer educator for Planned Parenthood. When I volunteer at events at Planned Parenthood’s booth, I am always surprised how many people don’t know about Planned Parenthood outside of abortion care. I was a patient myself and it feels good to let them know about other services and how to get involved.

Advocacy
Advocating for LGBTQ+ Students’ Rights and Safety
Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest and community partners formed the Riverside County LGBTQ+ Student Safety Coalition to protect LGBTQ+ students countywide. More than 10 organizations regularly convene to protect and uphold the rights of students by standing strong together, advocating at school meetings on behalf of LGBTQ+ youth, and recognizing those who are instrumental in protecting student rights. The goal of this work is to maintain safe spaces for learning regardless of students’ sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. All youth deserve affirming and inclusive spaces to learn, thrive, and be themselves — free from harmful anti-LGBTQ rhetoric and policies that violate their rights and negatively impact their mental health.
Sex Education Advocate Training Program Launched
With threats to sex education mounting, we developed a new program called Communities for Health Education to train community members to advocate for comprehensive, medically accurate and inclusive sex education in local school districts.
Our staff provided in-depth education to a pilot group of about 30 advocates on the state of sex ed, the laws that protect students, and training on how to make sex education and reproductive health a priority at local schools. Supporters put these skills into action when we asked them to advocate for Desert Sands School District in the Coachella Valley to follow the state law requiring them to provide menstrual hygiene products for students in schools.
